My name is Paul Mascetta, and I have been in the fitness industry for almost 10 years. I have spent a majority of my career helping people achieve their fitness goals and, in the process, improve their overall quality of life.

I have also witnessed a countless amount of people join the gym only to wind up heavier or more out of shape than they were before they joined.

A key factor in keeping your gym profitable is retention. Client retention is everything. If you enroll 100 new people per month but 25 previous members cancel every month, then you really aren’t as profitable as you may think.

It took me many years to become an expert sales person. I learned and mastered every technique involved in making a prospective member an actual member and became quite good at it.

I had to find ways to make people stay members of the club. To truly achieve that goal, I had to deeply research why people cancel their gym memberships and stop their fitness programs.

Truth Number Two: If a person exercises more than 12 times in their first month, they are more likely to continue with the program.

Truth Number Four: Even with results, there is an 80 percent chance that the person will not continue.

And it’s the not so obvious factors that are the most dangerous. The reason is because for every problem there is a solution, but if we do not identify the problem, we surely cannot identify the solution.

No one knows this cycle better than me.  I’ve not only seen thousands of people fall victim to the hidden causes of fitness failure, but I’ve also fallen victim myself!

I began working out 4, 5, and sometimes even 6 days per week. Aside from the muscular rehabilitation and health benefits, I was also getting into the best physical shape of my life.

I then thought to myself, “I’m so immersed in fitness, I may as well start working in a gym”.  And I did.

I was truly at the point of complete fulfillment in my life. I looked great, felt great and was doing something I was very passionate about for a living.

The reason I say it was a journey toward failure is because every action that we take impacts our life in some way.

Most times, that impact is either positive or negative. In some cases, we can’t see the effects of the impact right away. Sometimes, it builds up over days, months or even years.

But rest assured it is happening. And if you aren’t taking action that impacts you positively or brings you closer to success, then, you are bringing yourself closer to failure.

When It Comes To Fitness, The Day You Stop Exercising Is The Day Your Journey Toward Failure Begins….Period.
